The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced a construction project on La. 92-1, also known as Smede Highway, in St. Martin Parish. The $4.73 million project is set to begin on Monday, February 17, 2025, and will cover the stretch from U.S. 90 to La. 182.
The scope of work includes milling, in-place base rehabilitation, asphalt concrete overlay, drainage improvements, and related tasks. Construction is scheduled from Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., weather permitting.
Drivers should anticipate intermittent lane closures throughout the duration of the project and are advised to expect delays. A ten-day full road closure is planned for La. 92-1 near U.S. 90 during construction; DOTD will issue a press release with details closer to the event date.
Emergency vehicles will have access except during the full road closure period. The project is expected to be completed by fall 2025.
DOTD urges drivers to exercise caution around the construction site and remain alert for workers and equipment.
