Construction is set to begin on April 7, 2025, to improve a section of LA 397 in Calcasieu Parish. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced the initiation of State Project H.015278, which aims to enhance the stretch from US 90 to 400 feet north of LeBleu Cemetery Road.
The project, valued at $2.17 million, involves patching and bump grinding over a 1.1-mile area. Siema Construction has been named as the contractor and the completion of the work is expected by November 1, 2025, pending weather conditions.
Drivers should anticipate lane closures throughout the duration of the project. DOTD will provide updates on these closures through announcements and message boards along the route.
“DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.” The statement underscores the importance of safety for motorists and area residents. Caution is advised for those driving, walking, or biking near the active construction zone.
For further information, motorists can call 511, visit www.511la.org, or use the Louisiana 511 mobile app. Travelers from outside the state may contact 1-888-ROAD-511. Additional updates can be found on the LA DOTD website and through their social media channels.
