The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has declared plans to initiate a $4.6 million preservation project on Louisiana Highway 359 in St. Landry Parish. The work is set to begin on April 7, 2025, covering a 4.36-mile stretch of road from Bolden Road to Louisiana Highway 10.
The project will encompass various improvements such as drainage structures, milling asphalt concrete, lime treatment, in-place cement treated subgrade and base, pavement patching, asphalt concrete, and pavement markings. Construction activities are scheduled for weekdays, specifically from Monday to Friday, between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., contingent on weather conditions.
To facilitate the construction, intermittent lane closures will take place, resulting in anticipated delays for drivers. The road will remain open to regular traffic but will impose a 12-foot maximum lane restriction for oversized loads navigating the work area. Emergency vehicles will still have access, although they might face some delays.
Completion of the project is projected for October 2025. The DOTD has urged motorists to proceed with caution while driving through the construction site, emphasizing attentiveness to work crews and their equipment.
To keep drivers informed, the DOTD offers resources such as MyDOTD and the 511 Traveler Information system. Motorists can subscribe to MyDOTD at www.dotd.la.gov to get updates on local projects and road conditions. Additionally, information regarding road closures and traffic can be accessed via www.511la.org or by dialing 511.
"DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment."
