The Louisiana Legislature is set to convene on April 14 for the start of the 2025 Regular Session. The session, focusing on fiscal matters, will last up to eight weeks and must conclude by 6 p.m. on June 12.

Leah Long, the State Director of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), highlighted the importance of this session. She stated, "This session gives us an important opportunity to make progress on lawsuit abuse and insurance reform." Long pinpointed the ongoing issue of rising costs for small business owners due to Louisiana's litigation environment. She added, "We’re proud to work alongside Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple and other business groups to push for meaningful change."

Beyond addressing legal and tax issues, the NFIB intends to monitor against restrictive government mandates and push for substantive workers’ compensation reform. Long emphasized the organization's vigilance, saying, "We’ll be watching every bill that could impact small businesses and keeping our members informed every step of the way."
