The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced that Interstate 10 westbound, at Louisiana Avenue, has been temporarily closed to all traffic due to multiple crashes. The decision was put into effect immediately.

Motorists planning to travel in the region are advised to find alternative routes while the closure remains in place.

The DOTD offers several resources to assist motorists during such disruptions. "Motorists can receive information on local projects, lane and road closures, and other DOTD activity by signing up for MyDOTD at www.dotd.la.gov."

For real-time information regarding road conditions and traffic updates, travelers can use the 511 Traveler Information service. Details can be accessed online at www.511la.org, by calling 511, or for those outside the state, by contacting 1-888-ROAD-511 (1-888-762-3511).

The authorities urge motorists to plan accordingly and remain informed as the situation unfolds.
