The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced the completion of a section of the asphalt overlay project on LA 1 (Youree Drive) in Shreveport. The completed portion extends from Stoner Avenue to Kings Highway, having undergone base repairs and replacement of old asphalt layers with new ones.
Currently, work is underway on the segment from Kings Highway to Southfield Road, where the old asphalt is being milled in advance of the new pavement installation.
This $3.8 million project, addressing around 3 miles of LA 1, is part of a broader $7.5 million allocation provided by the state legislature to each regional office of the DOTD. As work proceeds, motorists can expect periodic lane closures and are advised to drive cautiously through construction zones.
The overall project completion is expected by late June 2025, though progress depends on weather conditions and other construction-impacting factors.
The DOTD emphasizes safety during construction: "DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you."
