NFIB, a prominent small business advocacy group, has initiated a radio and digital advertising campaign aimed at preventing a potential tax increase on small businesses. The organization is calling on Congress to make the 20% Small Business Tax Deduction permanent, emphasizing the potential impact on small businesses if this does not occur.
Leah Long, NFIB Louisiana State Director, highlighted the benefits of the deduction: “The 20% Small Business Tax Deduction, created by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, has allowed millions of small business owners to expand, hire employees, increase wages, and invest in their communities.” She warned that without congressional action, "this deduction will expire at the end of the year and could skyrocket Louisiana’s small business tax rate to 42.6%." Long added that making the deduction permanent would help protect small businesses and ensure fair competition with larger corporations.
The campaign encourages small business owners and advocates to reach out to their Washington representatives to push for immediate legislative action. With many Louisiana small businesses potentially affected, NFIB aims to highlight the risks of inaction and advocate for measures that safeguard both small enterprises and the broader economy.
