Construction on the Belle Chasse Bridge is almost complete, with all four lanes expected to open for traffic by Sunday, March 16, 2025. Initially, tolling will not commence immediately, allowing residents time to acquire a GeauxPass toll tag either online or at upcoming registration events.
The electronic tolling system will collect fees without requiring vehicles to stop. Residents and commuters are encouraged to obtain a GeauxPass for reduced toll rates and convenient payment options.
Two open house events will be held at the Belle Chasse Auditorium for residents to gather information and receive their GeauxPasses free of charge. These events are scheduled for March 24 from 12 pm to 6 pm and March 26 from 9 am to 3 pm.
For Plaquemines Parish residents using a Class 1 vehicle with a GeauxPass, the toll in 2025 is set at $0.25. To receive this discount, individuals must register and provide proof of residency. Non-resident Class 1 vehicles with a GeauxPass will pay $1.13, while those without one will incur a fee of $2.26. A full list of vehicle classifications and toll rates can be found at www.bellechassebridge.com/tolling. Most rate categories are subject to annual increases based on the CPI; however, the Plaquemines Parish Resident rate remains unchanged unless announced otherwise.
Residents qualifying for the resident toll rate must submit proof of residency via a driver's license and vehicle registration displaying an address within Plaquemines Parish. New GeauxPass account holders need to present a driver’s license, vehicle registration, and prefund their account with $30 using a credit or debit card; both original documents and copies are acceptable.
