The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced ongoing progress on a $3.8 million project to repair a three-mile section of LA 1 (Youree Drive) in Shreveport, Caddo Parish. The current focus is on full-depth patching, which involves removing all layers of the roadway down to the base at specific locations and replacing them with new material. This process strengthens the roadway and aims to prevent future failures under the driving surface.

Full-depth patching between Southfield Road and Kings Highway is expected to conclude this week. The operation will then move to the section between Stoner Avenue and Kings Highway next week, starting March 10. After completing these repairs, contractors will begin milling to remove old asphalt layers before laying new asphalt paving over the entire project length. This upgrade is designed to improve driving conditions for approximately 20,000 daily motorists who use Youree Drive.

The project extends from Stoner Avenue to Southfield Road and is slated for completion by late June 2025. However, progress may be affected by weather conditions or other factors that could impact construction timelines.

"DOTD appreciates your patience," officials remind residents, urging caution when driving through construction zones and highlighting safety precautions for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists near active work areas.
