The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced the commencement of work on State Project H.015598, aimed at repairing lighting damaged by Hurricane Laura on Interstate 210. The project, valued at $8.09 million, is scheduled to begin on March 10, 2025.

The scope of the project includes installing new lighting near and on the I-210 Prien Lake Bridge, as well as making necessary electrical repairs and upgrades. To facilitate these works, single lane closures in both directions will occur from March 10 to March 14, allowing for re-striping of travel lanes to shift traffic during construction.

A full nightly closure of I-210 westbound over the Prien Lake Bridge is planned from March 14 to March 20. These closures will take place from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m., enabling crews to install a concrete barrier.

The detailed closure schedule is as follows:

- I-210 eastbound: Alternating left and right lane closures from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and again from 9 p.m.-4 a.m., between March 10 and March 20.

- I-210 westbound: Alternating left and right lane closures from 9 p.m.-4 a.m., between March 10 and March 14.

- I-210 westbound: Full nightly closure from 9 p.m.-4 a.m., between March 14 and March 20. The westbound left lane will remain closed during all other hours.

Following these initial closures, there will be a continuous left lane closure along I-210 westbound over the Prien Lake Bridge starting just east of Cove Lane until further notice. However, the Cove Lane exit will stay open throughout this period.

An important note for motorists is that an 11-foot width restriction will be enforced during the project's duration.

Kiewit Louisiana Co. has been contracted for this project, which is expected to conclude by fall of 2025, weather permitting.

DOTD reminds drivers to exercise caution when navigating through construction zones and to be vigilant for work crews and equipment. Residents in the area are also advised to be cautious when driving, walking, or biking near active construction sites.
