Republicans are criticizing the $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill, saying that it is too expensive and not focused on reopening the country for business.
Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) spoke his mind about the bill when he went on Fox News on Feb. 25 and he didn’t hold back on expressing his displeasure about the Democrat-backed relief package.
Kennedy spoke of the huge amount of the bill saying, “The motto of the Biden administration seems to be ‘we can’t spend too much.” He went further and ridiculed the relief package saying that it’s a “wish list” for the Democrats.
He referred to the priority list of the bill wherein the arts and humanities department will receive $270 million, museums and libraries across the nation will get $200 million, a Silicon Valley electric train will get $100 million and the COVID-19 pandemic response team will get $750 million.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) criticized the bill as well, telling people that no Republican will support this relief package. He said, “I haven’t seen a Republican yet that’s found something in there that they agree with,”
McCarthy, who according to Politico defended government officials spending taxpayers’ money at resorts owned by former President Donald Trump, said that the relief bill is “too costly, too corrupt, and too liberal.”
