The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) is extending the deadline for the 2024 Census of Horticultural Specialties to April 18, 2025. This census is conducted every five years and provides crucial production and sales data for U.S. floriculture, nursery, and specialty crop industries, including greenhouse food crops.
Growers can complete the survey online at agcounts.usda.gov or by mail. The online questionnaire is designed to be user-friendly, accessible across various electronic devices, and efficient, as it calculates totals and skips irrelevant questions. A representative from the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) will continue to gather data and encourages growers to submit their completed survey forms promptly. If recipients are no longer involved in horticultural operations or need help, they can update their records by calling toll-free at 888-424-7828.
The 2024 Census will expand on data from the 2022 Census of Agriculture, providing insights into horticultural crop production, product value, square footage for growing crops, production expenses, and more. Responding to the census is a legal requirement under Title 7 USC 2204(g) Public Law 105-113, which also guarantees the confidentiality of individual responses.
Results from the 2024 Census of Horticultural Specialties will be available on December 16, 2025. The data will be accessible through the NASS website and the Quick Stats database. For further information, visit nass.usda.gov/go/hort.
