The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced an $8.2 million improvement project on LA 82, set to commence on February 27, 2025. The work will cover the stretch from Dyson Road to 0.9 miles east of N. Island Road in Cameron Parish.

The project involves patching, milling, and overlay work. During the construction period, motorists should anticipate alternating lane closures on both Eastbound and Westbound lanes of LA 82. These closures will occur daily from Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., with a width restriction of 10 feet in place for both directions.

Lane closures are essential for the crews to conduct patching and drainage work effectively. Traffic flow will be managed by flaggers present at the site.

R.E. Heidt Construction Co. has been contracted for this project, which is expected to reach completion by mid-August 2025, weather permitting.

The DOTD reminds drivers to exercise caution while passing through the construction zone: "DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment." Residents in the area are also advised to be careful when driving, walking, or biking near active construction zones.
