The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced the commencement of a construction project on U.S. 90 eastbound in Iberia Parish, scheduled to start on February 24. The $3.8 million project will span from LA 83 (Weeks Island Road) to LA 85 (Patout Road).
The scope of work includes milling asphalt concrete, applying an asphalt concrete overlay, installing guard rails, and adding pavement markings. Construction activities are planned for weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., depending on weather conditions.
During the project, there will be alternating lane closures, but the road will remain open to regular traffic with a restriction of a maximum lane width of 12 feet for oversized loads passing through the work zone. Emergency vehicles will have access but may face delays.
Completion is anticipated by summer 2025. DOTD advises motorists to exercise caution while driving through the construction area and be vigilant for workers and equipment.
To assist drivers, DOTD offers resources such as MyDOTD for updates on local projects and road closures at www.dotd.la.gov. Additionally, travelers can obtain information about road conditions by visiting www.511la.org or dialing 511 within Louisiana. Out-of-state travelers can call 1-888-ROAD-511 (1-888-762-3511).
