The Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced upcoming overnight road closures in Covington, Louisiana. These closures are part of the ongoing $30 million US 190: LA 437-US190B New Bridge and Road Widening Project.
The closures will affect the US190B (Boston St.) and US190 (Collins Blvd.) overpass. They are scheduled to begin on the night of Monday, February 3, 2025, and continue until the morning of Saturday, February 8, 2025. The affected lanes will be closed from 8:00 PM to 5:30 AM each night but will remain open during daytime hours from 5:30 AM to 8:00 PM.
During this period, US 190 B/LA 21 (E. Boston St.), located underneath the US 190 Bogue Falaya River Bridge, will be completely closed to vehicle traffic. This closure is necessary for construction work involving hanging girders and placing deck pans onto the new bridge over the Bogue Falaya River.
The project aims to reduce traffic congestion by providing wider lanes on Collins Blvd., new traffic approaches, and expanded lanes over the river. It is expected to be completed later this summer.
"DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to drive cautiously through the work zone and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment."
