Xavier University is Ranked the #1 HBCU In Louisiana!

Xavier University of Louisiana has once again proven that its excellence makes it a top Historically Black University! Xavier was recently named the Best Historically Black University in the state of Louisiana out of the six Historically Black C and Universities (HBCUs) in the state by University Headquarters (University HQ), an independent hub of resources and information for those considering higher education. Since its establishment in 1925, Xavier has been open to any race, creed, or gender, the foundation of its unique legacy as the nation’s only Catholic HBCU continuing to be reflected in the great works of its students, alumni, faculty and staff. University HQ praised Xavier University for its committed service to the educational needs of Louisiana and the Black community. The University was also recognized by University HQ for its service to all races while cultivating an environment for students to explore their dreams and preserve on their academic journeys as they grow their talents. Xavier’s impressive accolades keep coming.

“As a Xavierite, I am proud to further my education in an environment filled will administrators, professors, and peers who value Black excellence and strive to demolish the disparities for minorities in our society,” said Tyana "Ty" Jackson, a sophomore studying mass communications. University HQ's ranking methodology by uses a comprehensive assessment of the university’s degree level within each field of study. Xavier was ranked by its admission and retention, degrees awarded, online programs and student-to-faculty ratio rate on a 5-year spectrum.
