Halloween is around the corner and McNeese State University’s Master of Fine Arts program in creative writing will host horror writer Jess Hagemann for a free reading and book signing at 6:30 p.m. Saturday Oct. 1 in Ralph Squires Recital Hall in the Shearman Fine Arts building.
Hagemann will be reading from a new work of horror and the reading may not be appropriate for children.
Her debut novel, “Headcheese,” won an IPPY (Independent Publisher Book) Award for Horror and her recent work has appeared in Southwest Review, Castle of Horror, Femme Fatales and Into the Woods: Tales of the Baba Yaga.
She holds an MFA from the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado.
Founded in 1981, McNeese’s MFA degree program is the oldest MFA program in Louisiana and one of the oldest in the Southeast. The reading is co-sponsored by a Juliet Hardtner Endowed Professorship.
