NFIB, a prominent small business advocacy organization, has awarded the Guardian of Small Business Award to Louisiana Senate President Cameron Henry and State Representative Michael Echols. The award recognizes legislators who show leadership and support for small businesses.
The NFIB Louisiana Leadership Council, made up of NFIB members, voted to recognize Senator Henry and Representative Echols for their contributions to enhancing policies that assist small business growth.
"Small businesses are the backbone of Louisiana’s economy, and we’re proud to recognize these two leaders for their strong support," said NFIB State Director Leah Long. "Senator Henry and Representative Echols understand the challenges facing small business owners, and they have consistently worked to make Louisiana a better place to own and operate a business."
Senator Henry, who represents Senate District 9, has been a conservative advocate for small business throughout his legislative career. His work on insurance and tax reform in the Senate highlights his commitment to addressing issues affecting small employers statewide.
Representative Echols, representing House District 14, brings a business-oriented perspective to the legislature. Elected in 2019, he serves on the Labor and Industrial Relations Committee and has focused on reforming workers’ compensation, the insurance climate, and workforce development. His efforts have positively impacted small employers in his district and across Louisiana.
"We’re grateful for the leadership of Senator Henry and Representative Echols for their work on behalf of Main Street businesses and look forward to continuing to work with them in this year’s session of the Louisiana Legislature."
