The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced the completion of a project involving the installation of 28 new closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras along Interstate 10, stretching from Lake Charles to Scott.
This $2.5 million initiative involved connecting the newly installed cameras to the existing DOTD main fiber network along I-10. The aim is to provide additional areas for public access to live-stream coverage, enhancing real-time traffic monitoring and safety operations along this busy corridor.
"The $2.5 million operation called for connecting the new cameras to the existing DOTD main fiber network along I-10," according to DOTD. "This provides additional areas for the public to view live-stream coverage along I-10 from Lake Charles to the Lafayette area."
Ozark Traffic Management served as the contractor for this project, while Neel-Schaffer Inc. was responsible for its design.
The CCTV cameras are accessible through 511la.org or via the 511 mobile app, offering real-time updates on traffic conditions.
