The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced the completion of emergency repairs on the I-10 eastbound overpass girder at I-49 in Lafayette, Louisiana. The work addressed damage to the exterior girder on the eastbound bridge deck, which occurred in December 2024.

As a result of these repairs, several ramps and lanes have been reopened. These include the Interstate 10 eastbound overpass auxiliary lane, also known as the deceleration/acceleration lane, the I-49 northbound exit ramp from I-10 (Exit 103B), and Exit 1A for access to I-10 eastbound.

Repair efforts began in January 2025. The process involved removing the damaged girder using a crane and installing a new one. Additionally, a new bridge deck was fabricated once the new girder was installed.

The project involved collaboration with Lafayette-based companies Huval & Associates, Inc., responsible for design, and C.E.C., Inc., handling construction.

The DOTD expressed gratitude to motorists for their patience during this period and urged them to continue driving cautiously.
