Walk to End Alzheimer's

Date: October 29, 2022

Time: 8:30 AM - 11:00 AM CDT

Website: https://act.alz.org/NewOrleans

Event Description:

The Alzheimer’s Association is inviting New Orleans Area residents to join the fight to end Alzheimer’s by participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Lafreniere Park. On Walk day, participants honor those affected by Alzheimer’s with the poignant Promise Garden ceremony — a mission-focused experience that signifies our solidarity in the fight against the disease. The colors of the Promise Garden flowers represent people’s connection to Alzheimer’s — their personal reasons to end the disease. In Louisiana alone, there are more than 92,000 people aged 65 and older living with Alzheimer's. 13.6% of people aged 45 and older have subjective cognitive decline and over 203,000 people are family caregivers resulting in 16 million hours of unpaid care in our state. To register and receive the latest updates on this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s, visit alz.org/walk. The walk is open to people of all ages. There will be refreshments, music, a kid's zone, and a special area for caregivers. Kids are welcome to dress in costume and sponsors will be handing out candy to kids. Alzheimer's Association programs and resources will be available. The walk route is 1.75 miles.
