The University of Louisiana Monroe Warhawks baseball team won against Marshall with a score of 7-5, according to a May 10 announcement. The game saw the Warhawks hold Marshall scoreless in six innings, despite Marshall leading with 15 hits and no errors.
This win is significant as it marks ULM’s first defeat of Marshall since 2023 and brings their season record to an even 26-26 overall and 11-16 in Sun Belt Conference play. The defense played a key role by turning three double plays during the game.
In the early innings, both teams had opportunities but struggled to convert runners into runs. Bryce Blaser hit his fourth home run of the season in the third inning, driving in Garrett Wiethorn for an early lead. Marcus Aranda contributed with his thirteenth home run of the season, tying the game again after Marshall briefly took control through RBIs from Ethan Murdoch and Jack Smith.
Jake Haggard was another standout performer for ULM, recording three RBIs on two hits. Blaser led with three hits while Aranda also had two hits and multiple RBIs. On the mound, Adam Tubbs earned credit for the win after pitching four-and-two-thirds innings and striking out two batters. Tyler Roark came on as relief to secure the save by allowing just one hit late in the game.
Both teams managed only minimal offense late until ULM extended its lead further in the ninth inning before solo home runs from Jackson Halter and Murdoch narrowed it for Marshall. However, their comeback attempt fell short as ULM secured victory.
The Warhawks will finish their regular season at Lou St. Amant Field against Troy beginning Thursday, May 14 at 6 p.m.
