Tulane University announced on April 19 that head beach volleyball coach Eyal Zimet’s contract has been extended through the 2029-30 academic year. The extension was confirmed by Ben Weiner Director of Athletics Chair David Harris, highlighting Zimet’s ongoing leadership and the program’s recent achievements.
The decision to retain Zimet comes after a period of significant success for Tulane’s beach volleyball team. Under his direction, the Green Wave has set new records for wins in consecutive seasons and achieved national recognition, including five ranked victories in 2025 and a conference tournament final appearance. Zimet was also named Conference USA Coach of the Year in 2024.
“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity and trust shown by David Harris and (Deputy AD for External Operations and Beach Volleyball Sport Administrator) Jana Woodson to continue this incredible journey with Tulane,” said Zimet. “Our program has demonstrated tremendous and multi-faceted growth over the years, and I look forward to maintaining our positive momentum by competing at the highest level and helping our student-athletes achieve their goals both on and off the sand. Roll Wave!!”
Since joining Tulane in 2019, Zimet has brought extensive coaching experience as well as an international playing background that includes representing Israel’s national team for nine years. He previously coached at Dartmouth College, University of San Francisco, and led Panama’s national team to a silver medal at an FIVB Olympic Qualifier.
“Eyal has done an outstanding job transforming our beach volleyball program into a national contender,” Harris said. “His dedication, experience, and leadership have been evident every step of the way. We are excited to see what the future holds with Eyal continuing to lead our program.”
As of this season, Tulane holds a record of 22-13 heading into this week’s Conference USA Championship in Youngsville, Louisiana. The Green Wave is seeded fifth and will face fourth-seeded South Florida on Thursday.
