With just two rodeos left in the regular season, McNeese State University’s men’s rodeo team is currently ranked first in the Southern Region, with the women’s team in third place. The National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association’s Southern Region includes 14 member colleges and universities in Louisiana and Texas.
For the men’s team, Ryder Sanford is ranked No. 1 in saddle bronc riding with Isaac Richard close behind at No. 4, Devin Byram at No. 6 and Shea Fournier at No. 8. Teammate Waylon Bourgeois is the current champion in bareback riding, with Kade Sonnier ranked at No. 6. Fournier is also currently at No. 8 in bull riding. Gavin Soileau is the current reserve champion in steer wrestling, with John Mayes following at No. 3.
For the women’s team, Kamryn Duncan is the reserve champion in goat tying, with Claire Vincent in the No. 5 position in breakaway roping and Kylie Connor at No. 9 in barrel racing.
The teams will head to Wharton County Junior College in Wharton, Texas, April 22-23 and Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas, April 29-30 to finish up the season.
