House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) is calling on his fellow party members to vote “no” on the $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill proposed by the Democrats.

Scalise claims that the bill will only benefit Democrats because they plan to bail out blue states. He also said that it won’t help schools reopen and that it would discourage people from working because of the high amount of the stimulus package.

He stated further that increasing the minimum wage to $15 an hour will only sink the country’s economy into more debt.

Scalise criticized the Democrats for rejecting a hundred amendments made by the Republicans and accused them of preventing any bipartisan efforts because they want to prioritize their own agenda.

Scalise reminded everyone that there is more than $1 trillion that wasn’t spent on COVID-19 relief programs. According to him, asking for an additional $1.9 trillion will benefit no one and increase the national debt which America’s future generations will have to pay back.
