The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office announced on May 18 that deputies responded to a large gathering of juveniles late Saturday night in the Lakeshore Villages community.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies arrived at a residence on Delta Ridge Avenue and encountered hundreds of juveniles who dispersed from the area. Many of them moved to a nearby closed neighborhood playground, where several fights reportedly broke out.

Due to the size of the crowd and continued disturbances, additional law enforcement support was called in from other patrol districts, Louisiana State Police troopers, and members of the Slidell Police Department to help with crowd control and restore order.

Authorities said two male juveniles were arrested and charged with disturbing the peace and resisting arrest. Another male juvenile was arrested for disturbing the peace, while one female juvenile was charged with resisting arrest. All four were released to their parents under custodial agreements to appear in court. No injuries were reported during the incident, according to officials.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office reminded parents and guardians “to be aware of their children’s whereabouts and activities, especially during large gatherings where situations can quickly get out of control.” Sheriff Randy Smith also said he would like “to thank the Louisiana State Police and the Slidell Police Department for their assistance in safely dispersing the large crowd and helping restore order to the area.”
