The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office announced on April 21 that it is investigating the discovery of skeletal remains near Slidell.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded at about 4 p.m. on Monday, April 20, to a retention pond located near Indiana Avenue and Highway 11 after a person fishing in the area found what appeared to be human skeletal remains in the water.

Authorities said that both the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office and Louisiana State University Forensic Anthropology and Computer Enhancement Services (FACES) Laboratory were notified following the discovery.
