A woman from St. Charles Parish, Ashley Hymel, age 42 and a resident of Ama, Louisiana, pleaded guilty to wire fraud on November 19, 2025. The announcement was made by Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson.
According to court records, Hymel worked as an executive assistant at a company identified as Company 1. She used a company credit card to embezzle funds totaling at least $130,663.92 from her employer. As part of her plea agreement, Hymel has agreed to repay the full amount taken from Company 1.
Judge Jane Triche Milazzo scheduled sentencing for February 25, 2025. Hymel could face up to twenty years in prison, followed by up to five years of supervised release, a fine reaching $250,000, and a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.
Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson acknowledged the efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in this case. Assistant United States Attorney Nicholas Moses is handling the prosecution.
