The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office announced on April 13 that two individuals were arrested for driving while intoxicated earlier this month.

Driving while intoxicated (DWI) is a serious offense that can put both drivers and others at risk. The recent arrests highlight ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address impaired driving in the community.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Rufino Gonzalez, age 30, of Los Fresnos, Texas, was arrested on April 12 at 384 Lily Street in Boutte, Louisiana. Gonzalez faces charges of DWI and having an expired driver’s license.

James Powell, age 24, of St. Rose, Louisiana, was arrested on April 11 near I-310 and Airline Highway in St. Rose. Powell is charged with DWI and reckless operation without accident.

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office continues to monitor roadways for impaired drivers as part of its public safety responsibilities.

These arrests underscore the department’s commitment to enforcing traffic laws and ensuring safer roads for residents.
