The Shreveport Police Department announced on April 21 that it is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Terry Lee Ashing, a Tier 3 sex offender who has failed to meet mandatory registration requirements for 2026.

Ashing, classified as a lifetime registrant under Louisiana Revised Statute 15:542 (Registration of Sex Offenders and Child Predators), did not complete his required annual registration with the Shreveport Police Department. Authorities say this non-compliance raises concerns for community safety and law enforcement accountability.

According to police, Ashing has a criminal history that includes a 1997 conviction in Ouachita Parish for contributing to the delinquency of juveniles involving sexually immoral acts and a 2017 conviction in Ouachita Parish for attempted sexual battery. Due to these convictions, he is required by law to register as a sex offender for life. The department also notes that Ashing has previously been convicted of failing to register as a sex offender.

Detectives have obtained an active warrant for Ashing’s arrest on charges related to failure to register as a sex offender. The police urge anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the Shreveport Police Department at (318) 673-7300 or submit tips anonymously through Caddo Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373.

The department states it remains committed to ensuring compliance with sex offender registration laws and protecting community safety. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to reach out using the provided contact numbers.
