The Shreveport Police Department announced on Apr. 21 that an arrest warrant has been issued for Javohnta Giounes in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on January 30 at approximately 5:13 p.m. Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at 2401 Lakeshore Drive, where they found the victim, a deaf adult male.

According to police, communication with the victim was conducted through written notes due to his impairment. The victim told officers he had been communicating with a woman via Facebook who asked him to pick her up and take her to the Lakeshore Inn Motel. After paying for a room, the victim said an unknown man entered the motel room, assaulted him, pointed a firearm at him, and stole several personal items. The woman involved, identified only as “Rose,” reportedly took his Regions Bank card during the incident.

Police say both suspects fled in a GMC vehicle that was later seen on surveillance footage. Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit began investigating and located the GMC vehicle at a related residence; however, Giounes was not present when officers arrived.

As part of their investigation, authorities issued an arrest warrant for Giounes (date of birth May 12, 1995) on January 31 on charges of armed robbery. According to police records included in their statement, Giounes is known to law enforcement and has previous arrests and convictions for offenses including armed robbery, domestic abuse battery with strangulation, felony theft of goods, possession of Schedule IV narcotics, introduction of contraband into a penal facility as well as multiple misdemeanors.

The Shreveport Police Department is asking anyone with information about Giounes’s whereabouts to contact them at 318-673-7300 or provide anonymous tips through Caddo Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.

Officials said they remain committed to investigating violent crimes and holding offenders accountable.
