U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), participated in the Louisiana Life March South in Baton Rouge, joining pro-life advocates to support efforts aimed at protecting unborn life. During a rally following the march, Cassidy addressed attendees and discussed his ongoing work related to chemical abortion drugs.
“Because of the people marching today, Louisiana now protects unborn life,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Together, we will continue supporting mothers and their babies and protect them from chemical abortion drugs.”
In his role as Chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, Cassidy recently led a hearing focused on safeguarding women and unborn children from what he described as dangerous chemical abortion drugs. He urged the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to reinstate requirements for doctors to meet with patients in person before prescribing such medications, aiming to ensure that women are not coerced into abortions. Additionally, he called on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to conduct a safety review of mifepristone.
Cassidy’s efforts were recognized by Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America’s 2025 National Pro-Life Scorecard with an A+ rating.
Benjamin Clapper, Executive Director of Louisiana Right to Life, expressed appreciation for Cassidy’s involvement in both the march and recent legislative activities.
“We are grateful that Senator Cassidy is marching for life with us,” said Mr. Clapper. “We appreciate his leadership in the Senate, especially through holding the recent hearing on the dangers of abortion pills being sold online and shipped through the mail.”
