U.S. Senator John Kennedy (R-La.) has joined a bipartisan group of senators in introducing a resolution marking the second anniversary of the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks on Israel. The resolution is led by Senators Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) and John Fetterman (D-Pa.), and has the support of all Senate Republicans.

The resolution condemns Hamas, which is backed by Iran, for the killing of dozens of Americans and the taking of hostages during the attacks. It also denounces the use of rape as a weapon of war by Hamas and expresses concern about the increase in antisemitic protests worldwide. The measure reaffirms the United States’ support for Israel’s right to exist and defend itself and calls for the release of all hostages still held by Hamas, including American citizens Omer Neutra and Itay Chen.

“Two years ago, the world watched in horror as Hamas terrorists murdered innocent men, women and children in cold blood. Israel has every right to defend itself against barbaric attacks, and America must stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our strongest ally in the Middle East. We can’t let the world forget what happened on October 7 and the Americans Hamas took hostage and killed,” Kennedy said.

The full text of the resolution is available online.
