Majority Leader Steve Scalise hosted Congressman Cleo Fields, Congressman Craig Goldman, and Congressman Bob Onder for his annual Offshore Energy Tour last week, according to an April 14 announcement. The group visited several key sites in Louisiana’s energy sector, including Occidental’s Holstein deepwater platform in the Gulf of America and Venture Global’s Plaquemines LNG facility.
The tour aims to highlight Louisiana’s ongoing role in supporting American energy production. The itinerary included a roundtable discussion with representatives from the Greater Lafourche Port Commission, South Central Industrial Association, and various energy companies operating in the Gulf of America. These discussions focused on Louisiana’s contribution to national security through its energy industry.
During their visit to Venture Global’s Plaquemines LNG facility, participants learned that the site accounted for 65% of all new liquefied natural gas capacity globally in 2025 and supports about 1,400 jobs locally. The group also viewed an LNG vessel set to deliver enough energy to power approximately 45,000 homes in Poland for a year.
Steve Scalise is currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Louisiana’s 1st district after replacing Bobby Jindal in 2008 according to public records.
