Saronic Technologies, Inc. has announced a $300 million investment to expand its shipyard operations in St. Mary Parish, Louisiana. The expansion aims to increase the production capacity of autonomous surface vessels and is expected to create a significant economic impact in the region.
U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) expressed support for the project. “Companies invest in Louisiana because we have the workforce and infrastructure to run a successful business,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Saronic knows that. Their expansion means real jobs, real innovation, and a stronger economy in South Louisiana.”
The company plans to add 1,500 direct new jobs with an average annual salary of $87,936 at full employment, which is 46% higher than the average wage in St. Mary Parish. Since acquiring the shipyard in April, Saronic retained 35 employees and has expanded its workforce to over 100 people.
Louisiana Economic Development projects that this initiative will generate an additional 1,770 indirect jobs, resulting in a total of about 3,270 new job opportunities for the Bayou Region.
