A former postal worker from Houma, Louisiana, was sentenced to one year of probation after pleading guilty to the destruction of mail. The sentencing took place on July 31, 2025, according to an announcement by Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson.
Jorry Harrison, age 38, admitted to unlawfully opening packages that were intended for delivery while he was employed by the Postal Service. The incident occurred on or about October 25, 2023, as Harrison worked on a Small Parcel and Bundle Sorter.
The investigation into the matter was conducted by the United States Postal Service Office of the Inspector General. Assistant United States Attorneys Christine Calogero and Duane A. Evans from the General Crimes Unit handled the prosecution.
