On September 19, 2025, a federal grand jury indicted Jentonia Williams, a 39-year-old resident of New Orleans, for bank robbery. The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson.

Court documents state that on September 2, 2025, Williams allegedly robbed the Capital One Bank located in the 4100 block of Canal Street in New Orleans. The branch’s deposits are insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

If convicted, Williams faces up to twenty years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, up to three years of supervised release, and a mandatory $100 special assessment.

“An indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson.

Simpson also commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Violent Crime Task Force for its work on this case. Assistant United States Attorney Duane A. Evans from the General Crimes Unit is prosecuting.

The case falls under Operation Take Back America. This nationwide initiative uses resources from the Department of Justice to address illegal immigration and combat cartels and transnational criminal organizations while aiming to protect communities from violent crime. Operation Take Back America brings together efforts from programs such as Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
