The University of New Orleans men’s golf team will compete in the Southland Conference Championship at Comanche Trace in Kerrville, Texas, starting Monday, Apr. 19. The Privateers enter as the No. 5 seed and are ranked No. 252 nationally according to Clippd’ Scoreboard, while Lamar holds the top seed with a ranking of No. 160.
This tournament is significant for New Orleans as they aim to improve on last year’s tenth-place finish at the conference championship and continue their recent trend of strong performances against Southland opponents. Tom Watson has led the Privateers individually this year with an average score of 72.63 over thirty rounds, including eleven rounds under par and five eagles. Watson’s best finish was tying for third at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate three weeks ago with rounds of 65, 67, and 76.
