A New Orleans man has been sentenced for his role in a fraudulent vehicle purchase scheme. Kenneth Richmond, 65, was sentenced on August 14, 2025, after being convicted of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.
According to court documents, Richmond and his daughter Kendra Walker used false and stolen personal information to buy vehicles from a local car dealership in 2022. The purchases were financed through a bank, with several loans going into default. The scheme led to losses of about $124,031.41 for the dealership. Richmond used the name, date of birth, and Social Security Number of another person without permission to buy a Dodge Challenger in July 2022.
United States District Judge Barry W. Ashe sentenced Richmond to four years in prison and three years of supervised release. Richmond must also pay $58,852 in restitution and a $200 special assessment fee.
At the time of this scheme, Richmond was already on federal supervised release for an earlier fraud conviction. On August 13, 2025, United States District Judge Sarah S. Vance revoked his supervised release and sentenced him to two more years in prison. He will serve both sentences consecutively for a total of six years.
Judge Ashe scheduled sentencing for Walker on September 25, 2025.
The investigation involved the United States Secret Service, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the Louisiana Department of Public Safety. Assistant United States Attorney Maria M. Carboni is prosecuting the case.
