Jarrett Hall, a 33-year-old resident of New Orleans, was sentenced on December 17, 2025, for being a felon in possession of a firearm. United States District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo issued the sentence after Hall pleaded guilty to violating federal law that prohibits convicted felons from possessing firearms.
Court records show that Hall was stopped by the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office on December 8, 2023. During the traffic stop, officers found Hall in possession of a .45 caliber Colt Commander handgun. At the time, Hall had already been convicted of a felony.
Judge Milazzo sentenced Hall to five years (60 months) in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office investigated the case. Assistant United States Attorney Briana Williams from the Narcotics Unit prosecuted it.
Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced the sentencing.
The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and local communities. According to the Department of Justice, PSN focuses on building trust within communities, supporting organizations that work to prevent violence, prioritizing strategic enforcement efforts, and evaluating outcomes.
