A New Orleans man has pleaded guilty to attempting to send obscene material to a person he believed was a minor. Mark Brooks, also known as “Baby Nu,” age 35, entered his plea on November 20, 2025, before United States District Judge Barry W. Ashe.
According to court records, on May 1, 2025, Brooks contacted an undercover FBI agent who was posing online as a fifteen-year-old girl named “Ava.” After being told that “Ava” was only fifteen years old, Brooks continued communicating with her and sent several sexually explicit videos. The videos included footage of Brooks engaging in sexual acts while at work and inside various rooms in a residence. During their conversations, Brooks discussed meeting “Ava” in person for sexual activity.
On May 13, 2025, Brooks suggested they meet at a restaurant near his home and then return to his residence for sexual contact. Law enforcement arrested him as he walked from his residence toward the restaurant.
Brooks faces up to ten years in prison, three years of supervised release, a fine of up to $250,000, and a $100 special assessment fee. He may also be required to register as a sex offender. Sentencing is set for February 12, 2026.
