Conference USA announced on April 21 that Tulane University’s Emma Morris and Katie Hansen have been named co-pair of the week for their performance in beach volleyball during the week ending April 19. The duo shares this recognition with Florida Atlantic’s Denisse Morgenstern and Shantel Starling.
This marks the fourth time a Tulane pair has received Conference USA Pair of the Week honors. Hansen and Morris are the first from Tulane to earn this award since Samantha Mehlman and Emily Heintzelman were recognized on April 26, 2023.
During last weekend’s NOLA Classic at White Sands Volleyball Courts, Morris and Hansen competed as Tulane’s second flight, achieving a perfect record of five wins without dropping a set. Their victories included a sweep against No. 20 Arizona—marking their third win over a ranked opponent this season—as well as wins over ULM, UNO, FIU, and Southern Miss. The scores across these matches demonstrated consistent performance with set victories such as 21-17, 21-19 against Arizona; double 21-15 sets against ULM; and closing out with tight sets like 24-22 against Southern Miss.
Currently, Hansen and Morris are on a nine-match winning streak—eight of those at the No. 2 pair position—which is their longest streak so far this season. This run is just one short of matching the program’s best streak for any pairing this year.
Looking ahead, Tulane will compete in the Conference USA Championship in Youngsville, Louisiana as the No. 5 seed. They are scheduled to face No. 4 South Florida at Sugar Beach on Thursday, April 23.
