A Metairie man, Kevin Lillis, 51, was sentenced to over 14 years in federal prison for distributing child sexual abuse material. The sentencing took place on July 30, 2025, before United States District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo. Lillis had previously pleaded guilty to the charges under Title 18, United States Code, Section 2252(a)(2).

Judge Milazzo also ordered that after serving his prison term, Lillis will be subject to 15 years of supervised release. He must pay a $100 mandatory special assessment fee and register as a sex offender. A restitution hearing is scheduled for October 28, 2025.

According to court documents, the investigation began when FBI agents received a case referral from an unrelated probe. In March 2024, they executed a search warrant at Lillis’s residence and seized electronic devices containing more than 600 images and six videos depicting child sexual abuse. One video was approximately twelve minutes long. Some of the material included images of newborn infants less than one day old engaged in sexually explicit conduct and depictions involving sadistic or violent acts.

Investigators also found conversations between Lillis and other users on encrypted messaging apps. In these exchanges—on dates including November 19, December 20 (both in 2023), February 5 and March 5 (both in 2024)—Lillis claimed he had engaged in hands-on sexual contact with multiple prepubescent minors over two decades. He also sent sexually suggestive pictures of minors he knew personally; one such image involved a girl about eight years old.

The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative started by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to address child exploitation online by coordinating federal, state, and local efforts to find offenders and help victims. More information about this initiative can be found at www.projectsafechildhood.gov.

“U.S. Attorney Simpson praised the work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in investigating this matter.” Assistant United States Attorney Jordan Ginsberg led the prosecution.
