McNeese baseball will travel to Corpus Christi for a three-game series against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beginning Friday, according to an April 16 announcement. The first game is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be streamed live on ESPN+.

The matchup follows McNeese’s recent midweek win over Grambling, which marked their second victory over the Tigers in seven days. In that game, Connor Walker hit his fourth home run of the season to give McNeese the lead, followed by two bases-clearing doubles that secured a 7-3 win. Jake Blackwell earned his fifth win of the season, improving his record to 5-0.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi enters the series after a 14-7 loss at No. 4 Texas earlier in the week. Jarrett Flaggert led the Islanders with four hits in five at-bats during that game, finishing just short of hitting for the cycle. The Islanders also lost their most recent weekend series against Southeastern.

Several Cowboys players are carrying momentum into this weekend’s games: Kaden Schuck went four-for-four at bat in Game 2 versus UIW and enters Friday’s opener on a five-game hitting streak alongside Easton Dowell and Hayden Stringfellow. Matt Stancliff has reached base safely in each of his last twenty-six games and recently hit his fourth home run of the season.

Head Coach Justin Hill is entering his thirteenth season leading McNeese and holds a career record of 365 wins and 284 losses overall, with a conference record of 180-143, making him the program’s all-time winningest coach. This year’s roster includes twenty returning players from last season as well as twenty-one newcomers from various colleges and high schools.

Looking ahead, McNeese faces three teams this year who advanced to last year’s NCAA Regionals—Kansas, Houston Christian, and LSU—with LSU winning last year’s College World Series.
