The LSU women’s tennis team will compete against Virginia in the NCAA Super Regional on May 9 at noon Central Time, according to a May 8 announcement. The match will take place at the Virginia Tennis Facility at Boar’s Head Resort.

This matchup is significant as it marks the Tigers’ fourth appearance in the NCAA Super Regionals and their second consecutive showing. The team currently holds a No. 10 ranking in the official ITA dual season rankings as of April 30.

LSU advanced to this stage after sweeping Stephen F. Austin and defeating Rice during the Baton Rouge Regional. The Tigers have accumulated a season record of 21-9, winning the doubles point in 17 matches and maintaining strong singles and doubles records.

The roster features five ranked singles players: Cadence Brace (No. 9), Kayla Cross (No. 21), Ella McDonald (No. 77), Addison Lanton (No. 96), and Kenna Erickson (No. 125). In doubles, three pairs are nationally ranked, including Erickson/McDonald, Cross/McDonald, and Brace/Cross.

Individual highlights include Brace’s seven victories over ranked opponents, including her first top-10 win this season against Oklahoma’s Evialina Laskevich; Cross’s clinching wins during both SEC Championship play and regional matches; McDonald’s key tournament victories; Lanton’s team-leading singles record; and Carolina Kuhl being named SEC Freshman of the Week after her performance following ITA Kickoff Weekend.

Virginia enters with a season record of 23-5 and recently reached the ACC Championship, led by head coach Sara O’Leary in her ninth year. This meeting is only the second between LSU and Virginia women’s tennis programs since their last encounter in 2016.
