The State Veterinarian has rescinded an order that previously lifted restrictions on testing lactating dairy cattle for Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) before their admission to fairs, livestock shows, exhibitions, and breeders’ association sales. The change took effect on September 15, 2025.

Other orders from the State Veterinarian concerning HPAI in dairy cattle are still in place. These include ongoing restrictions on bringing HPAI-positive dairy cattle into Louisiana from other states.

The revised order can be viewed online.
