Brandon Jermaine Francisco, a 39-year-old resident of Mansura, Louisiana, has been sentenced to life in federal prison for the carjacking and killing of a Lafayette Parish woman identified as E.G. The sentencing took place on January 27, 2026, following Francisco’s guilty plea.

United States Attorney Zachary A. Keller stated, “Today’s sentence ensures that the defendant will spend the rest of his life in federal prison for a brutal and senseless crime. While no prison sentence can repay or erase the loss suffered by the victim’s family, including her young children, this case reflects our commitment alongside our state and federal partners to hold violent offenders accountable and pursue justice for victims.”

Special Agent in Charge Jonathan Tapp of the FBI’s New Orleans Field Office commented on the outcome: “Convicted carjacker Brandon Jermaine Francisco will be permanently removed from society and unable to hurt the people of Louisiana ever again. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the victim, and we are so sorry for your loss. We are very grateful for our partners at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Louisiana and the Louisiana State Police and the FBI Special Agents who relentlessly pursued justice for the innocent victim of this awful crime.”

According to court documents, Francisco admitted that on March 9, 2022, while attempting to avoid an attempted murder charge in Louisiana, he contacted E.G., an Uber and Lyft driver, requesting transportation to Missouri. They agreed that E.G. would meet him in Lafayette and drive him as far as Houston. After leaving Houston together and returning eastbound into Louisiana near Iowa, Francisco took control of E.G.’s vehicle by force, shot her several times, disposed of her body, then fled with her vehicle to Missouri. He was arrested there two weeks later with both the firearm used in the killing and E.G.’s key fob.

The investigation involved multiple agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Louisiana State Police, St. Joseph’s Police Department, Bedford Police Department, and Scott Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys John W. Nickel and Casey N. Stelly prosecuted the case with assistance from Legal Assistant Dru Casebonne.
