The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF) has announced it will host an informational meeting for producers affected by the insolvency of grain dealer Hansen-Mueller. The Louisiana Agriculture Commodities Commission (LACC), part of LDAF, recently declared the Nebraska-based company insolvent, prompting the opening of the Louisiana Grain and Cotton Indemnity Fund to provide compensation to impacted producers.
The Proof of Loss form and worksheet required for claims are available on the LDAF website at https://www.ldaf.la.gov/plants/louisiana-grain-and-cotton-indemnity-fund#hansen-mueller-claims. Producers seeking information about filing claims can attend an in-person meeting scheduled for Monday, December 8, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Madison Parish Farm Bureau office in Tallulah.
Following this meeting, individual claim documentation collection sessions will be held by appointment on December 9 and 10 at the same location. Producers may sign up for a time slot during the December 8 meeting. Those unable to attend these sessions can submit their claim forms and supporting documents via email to hmclaims@ldaf.state.la.us but must also mail original notarized documents to:
Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry
Office of Agro-Consumer Services, Suite 5000
5825 Florida Blvd.
Baton Rouge, LA 70806
The claims submission window opens on Tuesday, December 9. Initial consideration will be given to claims involving delivered and priced grain.
For questions regarding the process, LDAF’s Agro-Consumer Services Office can be reached at 225-935-2164 or by email at hmclaims@ldaf.state.la.us. More details about the fund are available at https://www.ldaf.la.gov/plants/louisiana-grain-and-cotton-indemnity-fund.
