The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF) took part in National Hunting and Fishing Day activities in Woodworth, Louisiana over the past weekend. The event, which is held annually, aims to highlight Louisiana’s outdoor traditions and promote conservation efforts.

During the festivities, LDAF’s Forestry Enforcement Division and Fire Management teams engaged with families from across the state. Attendees participated in hands-on activities, wildlife demonstrations, and educational exhibits focused on environmental stewardship.

LDAF enforcement agents provided information about outdoor safety, wildfire prevention, and the department’s responsibilities in protecting agriculture and forestry resources. Forestry fire crews demonstrated their equipment and discussed how community awareness can help reduce wildfires caused by human activity.

“National Hunting and Fishing Day is a great way to engage with the public and share how LDAF works every day to protect Louisiana’s people, property, and natural resources,” said LDAF Commissioner Mike Strain, DVM. “Our enforcement agents and forestry fire personnel play a vital role in keeping our state safe and preserving its outdoor heritage.”

The event also allowed LDAF staff to interact directly with citizens, answer questions, and encourage younger generations to continue Louisiana’s hunting, fishing, and conservation practices.
