The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has provided an update on the LA 3227 realignment project at LA 157 in Haughton, Bossier Parish. The agency reports that construction is progressing as planned.
Starting Monday, September 29, 2025, Delacroix Street will be closed at its intersection with the current LA 3227 for approximately two weeks. This closure will allow contractors to connect the new section of LA 3227 to Delacroix Street. Access to Delacroix Street from LA 157 will remain available during this period.
Other aspects of the project include upgrades to drainage systems, installation of permanent roadway striping and signage, and moving the traffic signal to the new intersection at LA 3227 and LA 157.
The $6.5 million Phase 2 project is intended to provide necessary infrastructure for Haughton’s growing residential and economic needs. Completion is expected in early 2026, depending on weather and other conditions.
Phase 1 of the project was finished in summer 2024 and involved widening LA 157 from two lanes to five lanes along with preparatory work for Phase 2.
DOTD issued a safety reminder: “DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.”
Residents are also advised to be careful when traveling near active construction zones.
